Steven Ellison's (a.k.a. Flying Lotus's) second album showcases the nostalgia of an old mix tape or vinyl, with the new invigorating flow of indie hip hop and dubstep. The result is an ambient album which seamlessly integrates layer upon layer of sound and static, but most notably the static. Regularly one would think that these distinct cracks, pops, and scratches are the result of poor recording or a bad radio signal, but for whatever reason, these irregularities make the album a much more enjoyable listen. For those used to Eno's sleepy riffs and melodies, this album may be a turn off, but don't fret. The thing grows. Some highlight tracks are GNG BNG, Auntie's Harp, Testament, and Breathe.
