Fishbone's second album added a dash of hard rock to a sound that already danced between ska, funk and punk. Truth and Soul leaves no doubts of its musical variance right from the start, beginning with a completely reworked cover of Curtis Mayfield's Freddy's Dead, then moving into a fast ska track (and a good one at that), Ma and Pa, just two tracks before the punk/metal influenced Deep Inside. After all this the mustsee moment of the album has to be the monstrous bass performance on Bonin' in the Boneyard.
